For several years, HSBC has been supporting the mill of Kalborn with the water experience centre and the freshwater breeding station with the help of its "water program".
As part of this collaboration, a volunteer day took place in early June.
At around 8:30 the bus left the bank's headquarters in Luxembourg City to head up north. On the way, Claude Schiltz, geographer at the foundation, gave explanations on the geology, geography and biology of the passing landscapes. Arrived at the mill a short presentation of the daily program and a division into different groups was done. About 50 employees of the bank then helped with various activities around the mill of Kalborn. The weirs were cleaned, a runway beside the breeding channel was constructed and a drywall was build. In addition, all participants could be informed about the life in the river and the importance of our natural water resources. Tired but satisfied after a hard work day, all arrived back in the evening in Luxembourg City. The LIFE Unio and WEZ Team are expecting HSBC employees to return for another working day in autumn.
